Christmas Movie Filmed in Owensboro Gets New Name; Here’s How to Watch
2025 will be remembered as the year Owensboro became an official movie-making town. Of course, we have a few local filmmakers who have been doing their thing for 20 years now, give or take. However, the newly formed Western Kentucky Film Commission aims to promote our area as an ideal location for on-screen projects.
Goldenrod Film production company worked on two Christmas romantic comedies, set in Owensboro and Madisonville. Both of which will premiere at the end of November. 'Bachelor Santa' stars will walk the red carpet at the Riverpark Center for the first-ever public viewing.
Here's the trailer for this feel-good matchmaking movie.
The other movie that was made had a working title of 'The Christmas Pitch.' As these stories often go, the main character, Jules, is a big city gal who loses her job and returns to her small hometown for the holidays. She ends up reuniting with an old hunky friend. After a series of unfortunate events, they have to try to save the annual Christmas Carnival together. Can they do it?
The festive flick stars Emily Alatalo, Jonathan Stoddard, and possibly your next-door neighbor! I know lots of folks filled in as extras. You'll be able to watch what is now called 'Christmas North of Nashville' on November 23, 2025, at 7 p.m. CT on the Great American Family channel and GFAM+.

If you're hosting a viewing party, you could create an Owensboro BINGO card or a similar activity to play along and mark off places or people you recognize. So fun!
