The Ohio County Community is mourning the death of Doug and Jessica Witt after the two were killed in a house fire early Sunday morning. News of their passing has sent shock waves through the tight-knit towns of Hartford and Beaver Dam. They touched the lives of many, including many who may never have had an opportunity to meet them.

It has been a rough couple of days for many friends that I care about deeply. I follow Jessica on Facebook, see them both at fundraisers or events, but I'd never had the chance to do any projects together. This is why I was so excited to work with her on the new Hometown Heroes of Ohio County project. Jessica was on a mission and nothing was going to stop her from making that passion a reality. It was such a blessing that she got to see her first billboard light up last week. We covered that story HERE.

This is what Jessica had to say about why this initiative means so much, "I am hoping to raise enough money in order to help make my goal come true. I think about the pictures of people that have been on our Billboards, and I can honestly say I never see HEROES. The ones that would be a blessing to see, not just up there for an advertisement. Our town is special and we seem to come together when someone is in need, and we don't hesitate. I'd like to give recognition to the ones that don't expect it. The ones that are teaching us lessons and don't even know it. Inspirations in disguise."

On Wednesday, this is what Katie Mcquady had to say about Jessica. "I'm very proud of the Heroes Billboard in my hometown, but in my opinion I believe Jessica deserves her own spot on that billboard as well!"  Guess who's on the Billboard today...

These two were just meant to find one another. Their official wedding was set to take place in October, and Jess was filled with excitement.
