Parents may register preschool and kindergarten students between 8 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. weekdays from Monday, March 11, through Friday, March 22. Kindergarten is open to all children who will be 5 years old on or before Aug. 1.

Preschool programs are available in all twelve DCPS elementary schools and all have achieved a Five-Star Rating for Kentucky All Stars.  Preschool is available to children who will be 4-years-old by Aug. 1, 2019 who meet income guidelines or children who are three and four who are identified with a delay or disability. Preschool is offered in morning and afternoon sessions, Monday through Thursday each week.

Head Start programs are offered to children who will be 3-years-old on or before Aug. 1 and who meet Head Start eligibility requirements.

Free screenings are available to all DCPS families with preschool-age children to help determine if there are any educational concerns, learning delays or disabilities.

For more information about registration, parents may call (270) 852-7000 or visit their neighborhood elementary school; or go to www.dcps.org and select “Preschool” under the “Departments” tab at the left side of the page.

According to DCPS, here's how to reigster:

Parents may visit the school their child will attend to complete an application. Preschool and kindergarten applications are also available on the DCPS website. Visit www.dcps.org and click on the red “Parents” tab, then select “How to Enroll,” then “Preschool” or “Kindergarten.” Forms may be filled out electronically, then printed and taken to the school your child will attend. After submitting an application, families of preschoolers will be notified to let them know whether their child has been accepted.

Also, parents who are unsure of which school their child will attend may visit www.dcps.org and click on the red “Schools” tab, then select “Find My School Zone” to enter their home address.

If you visit the DCPS website, but still require more information, you may call the DCPS Central Office at 270-852-7000 and ask to speak to preschool or kindergarten department representatives.
