Friends of Sinners Hosting Huge Rummage Sale in Owensboro

Friends of Sinners in Owensboro is hosting a huge rummage sale this weekend and there are thousands of items up for grabs.

Friends of Sinners is a Christ-centered residential substance recovery program focusing on the restoration and reconciliation of men and women to Christ through biblical truths, accountability, and life skills.  The organization began in 2009 and continues to thrive today.

A few months ago the ministry purchased the old Arc of Owensboro building at 731 Jackson Street.  The facility will allow FOS to provide better programming for clients and allow more opportunities for the community to serve in different capacities.

Many generous individuals and organizations have been so kind to donate items to the ministry and they decided they would have a rummage sale to offset some of the cost for remodeling their new home.

The sale will take place on Saturday, July 10, from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. at 731 Jackson Street in Owensboro.

Some items include:

• children's clothing
• children's toys
• household items
• furniture
• adult clothing
• electronics

Renovations will take place before the organization makes its move and they are hoping to pay cash for all that has to be done for the remodel.

Here's what Joe Welsh had to say about the journey that brought them to their new building:

Friends of Sinners has made an offer to purchase the old Arc of Owensboro building at 731 Jackson St. that has been accepted. Friends of Sinners is currently trying to raise the money to pay for the building as the closing date is May 5th. We have currently raised 90% of the funds needed to pay for the building in cash. We need about 20k still in the next two weeks. Our new men’s facility project has been in the works for several years now. Our current facility is 3 older residential houses on Clay Street these houses have served their purpose and God has used them to change the lives of so many men.  This isn’t a want for us but rather a need. We are out of space and the residential houses just aren’t built to withstand the day-to-day use of 50 men for the last 12 years. The biggest part of the move is that it will allow us too do more events and offer more services for our clients such as our new counseling service and the opportunity to have church services on property and a long list of other things we need to offer our clients that our current facilities just don’t afford us the opportunity to do. We are not looking to add more beds although we may add a few the goal is too offer our current clients a better service and more opportunities while they are with us, we have grown and have been offered so much favor in our Community in the last 12 years that we feel it is our responsibility to offer a better experience and service to our clients and our new men’s facility is the first step in achieving so much more for our clients and the organization. We are extremely excited and overwhelmed by the support we have received so far but we still need the Community to get behind us and this project. We are so close to this being a reality and accomplishing our goal, at this point if we gain the support of our community I am confident God will see this through and we will be blessed with everything we need to finish this project.
