Kentucky Possibly to Switch to Flatter License Plates
The state is considering overhauling the current license plate design in an effort to save money.
According to the state's Transportation Cabinet's Department of Vehicular Regulation Commissioner, new plate production and distribution could save the state $320,000 a year. The new flat plates would be replaced every five years.
And this is something I didn't know, it normally takes 55 prison inmates to make the current embossed plates. Only 10 inmates would be needed to make the new ones.
Residents would be able to order the new plates online as soon as 2019.
