LUCKIEST LOTTERY STATES IN AMERICA

While Delaware is the luckiest state for winning the lottery, based on Powerball and Mega Millions statistics, and New Hampshire and Rhode Island take second and third, respectively, where does Kentucky rank?

Indiana ranks 4th in America based on what the study reveals.

The state of Indiana comes in fourth place on the list, with the most winners in the list with 41, with 39 Powerball winners and 2 Mega Millions winners. However, since this list accounts for population, it comes in fourth with 6.13 winners per 1,000,000 people. The biggest lottery win came in 2016 on Mega Millions, with a value of $536 million.

Did you know in Indiana you don't pay taxes on your Powerball winnings? They're one of eight states that you don't have to pay them!

KENTUCKY IS TENTH LUCKIEST STATE

Do you feel lucky? According to the study, purchasing more tickets can enhance your odds of winning if you live here. Although no Kentuckian has ever won a Mega Millions jackpot, there have been many Powerball winners. Like many states, the Kentucky Lottery funds education for Kentuckians. It's a win-win when you play the lottery. In Kentucky, you have a good chance to win, and students also win.

This is done through lottery proceeds funding college scholarship and grant programs with over $4.4 Billion in funding since 1999, including every dime ever awarded in the popular KEES Scholarship program., according to the Kentucky Lottery website

TOP TEN STATES FOR WINNING THE LOTTERY

Commenting on the findings, a spokesperson for HotSlot said: “It is interesting to see how despite some states having marginally lower populations, they have still seen many winners. Especially when this is compared to the largest states like Texas and California, which aren’t even featured in the top ten. While the chance of winning big is still slim, there is a fascinating comparison in the sheer number of winners the smaller states have seen, the ‘luck’ here is evident.”
