Owensboro, Kentucky High School Students Give New Meaning to the Word ‘Seniors’
I always loved Spirit Week when I was in high school. You know those dress up days each day for a week to celebrate an athletic event or testing? As a theatre kid, I loved a wardrobe theme and still do! Twin Day, 80's Day, Pajama Day were some favorites I remember from way back when at Senior High.
Just this week, Owensboro Catholic High School students had Senior Day. As we inch closer to graduation time, you would think that just means a celebration of those who will be graduating, but no. It's even better. They mean senior as in senior citizens!
Catholic High students chose their wardrobes inspired by their Memaws and Papaws and spent the day walking the halls with the help of their walkers and velcro shoes. I also heard that there may or may not have been a wheelchair race.
An adorable group of senior girls even went to breakfast that morning at Cracker Barrel. They parading through the dining room in their gorgeous granny get-ups that had the whole restaurant ROLLING! Robes, gray wigs with rollers in them, they were accurate right down to the tennis balls on the feet of their walkers.
This forever wins best Spirit Day theme of all time! Absolutely hilarious and incredibly clever. I have no doubt these girls made a memory they will never forget as they prepare to graduate.
