St. Jude Radiothon Recap Including the Grand Total and a Radiothon First

I've visited St. Jude Children's Research Hospital multiple times, and it never ceases to amaze me what these people accomplish for sick kids all over the world.

The WBKR St. Jude Radiothon

The thing is--as most of us know--every patient receives the absolute best care; every employee is paid; and every necessary piece of equipment is purchased; and it all comes from monetary donations. The WBKR Window World/St. Jude Radiothon is one of hundreds that happen all across the country.

Considering that it currently costs more than $2 billion dollars annually for St. Jude to operate, the ramifications of these radiothons are staggering. And by 2027, that yearly expense is expected to grow to $2.7 billion.

With that said, think about the fact that St. Jude doesn't miss a beat. Every arm of this magnificent, vitally important facility is covered by donations from people like you and through events like the one that just wrapped Friday evening. Needless to say, all of us who convey the message are deeply humbled by your unceasing generosity. It's a blessing to present this to such a giving audience.

And the blessings were flowing at the Angels for Ashley Cookout at Shoe Stop in Owensboro. Jerry Morris and the Angels for Ashley Cooking Team joined our radiothon team about 13 years ago. They smoke unbeatable Boston butts, ribs, and chickens, and they always raise and extraordinary amount of money. For the first time ever, at around 4:30 PM, they sold every single piece of meat they prepared. So that meant a celebration in the aisles of Shoe Stop.

It's an absolute mindblower and couldn't have happened without you, the happy buyers who get to sink their teeth into every amazing bite. By the way, our friend Jenn Bufkin from SPARKY bought the very last chicken, which was the very last item.

Thanks to all of our volunteers on the phone bank and to all of our on-air guests and performers. It's an enormous team effort, and everyone brings everything to the table.

So now, it's time for the unveiling. Once again, we are beyond moved at what YOU have accomplished this year.
