The last two days I have received Special Weather Statements from AccuWeather and my Weather Channel app about cold air funnels.  And that got me thinking and asking myself, "What the heck is that?"  So, I did a little research and found some video of one.  Check this out!

Cold air funnels were actually spotted in Daviess County, KY the last two days.  I suppose this crazy cool July weather has something to do with it.  It's important to note that cold air funnels rarely reach the ground.  They are typically very short-lived and generally much weaker than funnels caused by supercell thunderstorms.  Cold air funnels are quite common on the west coast of the U.S., but our unseasonably cool summer has caused a few sightings in the tri-state!

I don't know about you, but I think these things are really cool!  And I really want to see one.  Eyes to the sky, Peeps!
