A Half-Dozen KY World Records Set in Odd Categories
We might as well start with a hat tip to the most recent world record set in Kentucky. That would be the planet's largest PUSH PIN which you will find at Tack Transit in Elizabethtown. Congratulations, and thank you for giving new meaning to the phrase, "let's put a pin in it."
Kentucky Has a Couple of Enormous Trees
If you live in Owensboro, and you've entertained visiting out-of-town guests with a drive around the city, you've no doubt shown them the world's largest sassafras tree.
The same can be said for Clay County KY, home to the world's largest red hickory tree.
That's One Really Big Blade
I'd like to see the apple that THIS knife cuts into quarters. It's at the Kentucky Museum for American Pocketknives in Radcliff KY, not too far from that big push pin. The world's largest pocketknife weighs in at more than 6,000 pounds and is over 20 feet long.
Who Wants Burgoo? We Have a LOT of It
There's no way I was completing this exercise without throwing a little love toward the largest burgoo pot in the world. And I guarantee if someone in Australia is looking up world records and runs across this thing, they'll have no idea what they're reading. I would have just one thing to say to our friends Down Under, "It's a thousand times better than VEGEMITE."
The World's Largest Freestanding Timber Frame Structure
That's just a fancy way of saying, "a really big ARK." I'm not exactly sure how many OTHER freestanding timber frame structures there are in the world, but the one in Williamstown tops them all.
This Bluegrass Band Could Go All Night
And I certainly couldn't leave you without another mention from Owensboro. This time, we're talking about the world's largest bluegrass band, a record set in 2023. Where ELSE could this record have been set?
If you want to break a record, find a category, and go for it. There seems be a bottomless PIT of categories. The world is your oyster.
