GOOD TIMES GROWING UP IN THE SNOW

I remember as a teenager we used to sit by the tv and wait for the winter snow forecast just so we could all pile in one of our friends' SUVs and head out for a day of sledding.  We loved a variety of places because in Owensboro there are actually tons of places to grab a sled and make some memories.  Now I do the very same thing with my little ones and they absolutely love it.

TIME TO DO A LITTLE SLIPPIN' & SLIDIN'

SPOT #1:

Parrish Avenue Hills across from Kroger on Starlit Drive.  Those hills are the ones I have always taken the kids to when they were little because they aren't steep hills but fun enough that they can get up and down and still go pretty fast.  This spot is actually on the Greenbelt and if you can get going fast enough you can take two hills in one go.

SPOT #2:

This next one is kind of a few spots in one.  Any of the golf courses in town are actually pretty fun.  The best one is formerly The Summit now known as The Pearl Club.  These hills are crazy steep and you have to be in great shape to get up and down them.

SPOT #3:

Perhaps the most well-known and best spot for the sled is Chautauqua Park.  Most people get their first sledding experience here.  On any given day after a big snow, you'll find these hills packed with people of all ages.  It's best for younger kids to go with their parents as it gets super crowded and can be dangerous if you aren't really careful.  You also have to know how to navigate the hills because a lot of them are steep and bumpy and you can get thrown off your sled or even get going so fast you slide into a fence or into a car (so BE CAREFUL!).

Tri-State Snow & Sledding Photos

It's been a hot minute since we have had a measurable amount of snow in the Tri-State. Five years to be exact. Families all over are loving the opportunity to get out and play!
