What Dogs Can and Cannot Eat and WHY (VIDEO)
Our sweet doodle, Layla Rose, loves eating fruits, vegetables, well anything! I have always known dogs couldn't have chocolate but I had no idea they couldn't have some of this stuff.
Layla likes her snacks. I eat lots of grapes and pineapples. They are probably my two favorites. One day I was feeding her grapes and a friend said "You know that dogs can't eat grapes." I had no idea and decided to do a little more research. Here is the list of foods I found dogs should not eat;
- Anything containing Xylitol (sweetener)
- Chocolate, coffee and caffeine
- Onions, garlic and chives
- Raw/undercooked meat, eggs and bones
- Grapes and raisins
- Salt and salty snack foods
- Nuts
- Alcohol
- Avacodo
- Apple stems and seeds (the fruit is fine)
The American Kennel website has created a more in depth look into each of these foods and even ones that are perfectly safe.
While our pooches might think they desperately need whatever we are eating be mindful of their digestive system and sensitivity. Love them enough to say know and offer an safer much healthier alternative!
