It's hard to find someplace these days that you can get lunch for five dollars. However, on Friday, September 8th, an Owensboro-based nonprofit is going to be serving them up.

Townsquare Media Owensboro hosts a series of "yard parties" in which we invite local nonprofits to our front yard at 3301 Frederica Street. Over the course of the summer so far, we have hosted organizations like the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, Friends of Sinners, Habitat for Humanity, the RiverPark Center, the Western Kentucky Regional Blood Center and more. This Friday, we'll be hosting New Beginnings Sexual Support Services, an agency that has mastered the art of grilling up $5 box lunches!

This year, New Beginnings has wrangled the help of the Daviess County Pork Producers, who will be on hand to help cook up hundreds of burgers. And, here's the great thing. New Beginnings gives you the option to swing by the party from 11am to 1pm to pick up a sack lunch or you can preorder them.

If you place an order for five or more lunches, New Beginnings staff will deliver them to you! Case in point. River Valley Behavioral Health has already placed their order for Friday's yard party and New Beginnings will be cooking up and delivering an astounding 100 lunches to the staff there.

New Beginnings Sexual Assault Support Services provides free therapeutic services to child and adult victims of sexual assault and rape. The agency serves seven area counties- Daviess, Hancock, Henderson, McLean, Ohio, Union and Webster.

In addition to providing free therapy and crisis counseling, New Beginnings strives to educate the community- from professionals to students in grades K through 12- about sexual assault and its prevention. A major part of that effort is the Green Dot Program.
